Thinking of joining the team?
... some of your questions answered!
What's it all about?
Abersoch Holiday Mission runs events for people on holiday and local residents in the Abersoch area for two weeks in the summer. We are part of Scripture Union, a Christian organisation, and aim to share our beliefs in fun and appropriate ways.
To run all the events, a team of about 40 is needed. Some team will have been before, but each year many are new. We have a lot of fun working together.
As a team we are always looking for new ways to reach out to people who don't know Jesus. We are seeking God's will for developing our work in the Abersoch area. |

What's involved?
You will be part of a team which is an encouraging and fun experience. At the start of each day the team pray, worship and study God's Word together. We also spend time each day in prayer triplets. This, and our personal times with God, helps us to keep spiritually fresh and rely on God's strength. |

Age groups; 4-5s, 6-7s, 8-11s,12-14s, 15+
We have fun with tide fights, games on the beach, craft, songs, drama and barbeques. The age groups meet separately in different venues in the mornings. |
 |
|
We all meet on the beach in the afternoon. The Bible is explained using fun activities, stories or studies. The message is put across in a way that each age group can connect with so that they can know Jesus for themselves.
The older age groups also meet together in the evenings and have day trips out. Family events, such as beach picnics, or a barn dance, are organised for two evenings each week.
Detached work
The detached youth work team go to the village and beaches of Abersoch in the days and evenings to meet young people. They build friendships and share Jesus.
Adults and Parents
We also have a group working with the adults and parents who meet for coffee and optional Bible study each morning. Friendship and support is built up through the fortnight and continues into the rest of the year. |
Qualifications?
Most importantly, a love for Jesus, a desire to help children or young people to know him, and a willingness to serve. No previous experience is necessary, although time spent with children or young people in advance of the mission will be helpful. Team members must be aged 18 by August 1st. We have responsibility for the children and young people we are working with so team members are CRB checked. We do not drink alcohol during the mission fortnight.

| Team members are from a range of church backgrounds. In the two weeks we focus on teaching about Jesus and core Christian principals, leaving aside specific doctrinal issues. |
Price and Accommodation
We are accommodated in a large house in the village and are well fed by our team of caterers. The cost, for food and accommodation for two weeks, is £80 for those who earn a regular wage and £45 for those who are unwaged, plus your travelling expenses to Abersoch. Your own church may wish to sponsor you to help with costs. If finance is a problem, please speak to the mission leader.
